Sketch Your World: Combining Shape, Volume, and Pattern (class #2)

This series for adults is a welcome space for new or experienced sketchers to try their hands at a fun, inexpensive, meditative art form that will sharpen their focus and memory. The three sessions will build upon each other but attendance at all is not required. Participants are encouraged to come and join in for one, two, or all three. Please sign up individually for the sessions you plan to attend. Class #1 will begin with leaf shapes.

We will use sketch paper, sketchbooks, pencils, and colored pencils. Bring what you already have or just show up and use provided materials.

(July 29) Shape: Topics and materials discussed, demonstrations, examples. Contour, close observation, blind drawing, continuous line, grouped lines, smudging

(Aug. 5) Volume: Topics and materials discussed, demonstrations, examples. Edges, angles, materials, light and shadows, groupings, symbols

(Aug. 12) Pattern: Topics and materials discussed, demonstrations, examples. Flat, natural, textures, repeated, three dimensional
