Portable Generator Safety (In-Person)

If you have a portable generator or you are thinking of buying or upgrading your generator, this program will be of interest to you. You will learn about the different types of generators including the new inverter generators and solar backups, their appropriateness for your needs, the options for wiring the generators to your house, and the safe placement and operation of generators. One of the risks of using any fuel burning engine is carbon monoxide poisoning. This odorless gas kills thousands each year. You will learn how to reduce the risk of CO poisoning, how to detect and respond to CO poisoning as well as the resources available to you online and from your Fire Department.

The presenters will be Amherst Fire and Rescue Chief Matt Conley and Souhegan CERT Coordinator, Don Holden.
