Covered Bridges of New Hampshire (In-Person)

Monday, December 127:00—8:00 PMMain Floor- Main Reading RoomAmherst Town Library14 Main Street, Amherst, NH, 03031

The Historical Society of Amherst and the Amherst Town Library are pleased to welcome Hancock author Kim Varney Chandler to talk about her new book, "Covered Bridges of New Hampshire".

There are over 60 authentic covered bridges in New Hampshire, 46 of which are more than a century old. These bridges exist today solely because of the efforts of a small but powerful community who both recognized their significance and honored their tradition.

In researching this book, Chandler partnered with bridgewrights, timber framers, engineers, historical societies, town offices, libraries, state and national organizations, and community members to compile extensive histories of each covered bridge in the Granite State. These bridges are an integral part of the fabric of New Hampshire’s history, and each one has its own story to tell. Come hear some of them and meet the author.
