Laurie grew up in Bernardsville, New Jersey and has drawn and painted since early childhood. Encouraged towards artistic expression by her grandfather, an oil painter, she was inspired by the landscapes of the surrounding horse country. She spent a great deal of her time working with the horses that often doubled as the subjects of her paintings.
She and her husband Ken have lived in New Hampshire for over 40 years. While raising their family and caring for their own horses, she painted intermittently doing commissioned portraits of horses and dogs as well as landscapes. Now with more time, her passion for painting has been rekindled.
She has been encouraged to continue her artistic development by studying with well known artists John Traynor, Don Demers and Thomas Jefferson Kitts.
Her current impressionistic work is inspired by the countryside and natural beauty of New England, especially New Hampshire. Of course, the horses and dogs make their appearances as well!

“When I paint, I strive to represent what initially impressed me about the scene or subject…what made me want to paint it! It might be the intensity of the light, the shadows, or the color relationships. Most of my work is begun outdoors (en plein air) and refined in the studio.”
